How anxiety and panic affect our bodies

Not only do panic and anxiety attacks affect the mind of those who suffer them, but also their bodies. Several parts of the body and internal organs show very special conditions when an attack happens. These affected parts are:

  • The heart. It is the main organ that gets affected. Blood circulation Arrythmias are common, and mixed up with hyperventilation, they make blood flow in an irregular way, which makes the individual feel dizzy and as if he/she was running out of air.
  • Chest. Heart arrhythmia and hyperventilation make the person feel a pressure sensation in the middle-chest zone.
  • Head. Headaches are very usual companions of general anxiety, and more specifically, panic attacks.
  • Lots of other minor problems, like mouth dryness and palpitations.

In addition to these, there have been a lot of reports from people who suffer from these attacks who feel like they’re out of their bodies, and they claim they find it very hard to focus when studying or at work. It is important to note that although you may not have panic attacks, anxiety and stress are usually still there in our lives. Hence, it’s recommended to take breaks after long periods of intense work and do something you find relaxing and fun, something you like to relieve your mind from stress.

Herbal remedies and treatments

Panic attacks and general anxiety are more and more common every day, so it is convenient for those people who have this problem to know WHY it happens. It’s also important to realize that if you’re one of those people who suffer from this, you need to do something about it as soon as possible.

There are quite a lot of methods to choose from when you decide to get rid of this illness by yourself. Amongst the most famous ones, we have herbal treatments. Medicinal herbs have been used for centuries, even millenia, and the reason is because THEY WORK.

Herbal Remedies:

Contemporary medications  are generally okay and have little to no side effects at all, but it’s true that this is not the case for ALL of them. Because of this reason it is wise to take into consideration alternative medicine, in which you will find treatments like those that make us of medicinal herbs.

There are several varieties of herbal treatment available which help people have control over this illness, like:

  • Bugleweed for anxiety-related disorders. This plant makes your nervous system more relaxed over time and also helps you sleep more and better, which in turn helps you to control your stress.

  • Catnip to calm headaches typical to this branch of mental disorders.
  • Valerian roots, they have a very similar effect to Bugleweed.
  • Winter cherries could also be considered as part of the best herbal remedies to help you have better control over panic attacks.

It’s recommended to combine several of these herbs and natural remedies at the same time, for example, in an infusion.

Why do people suffer from panic and anxiety attacks?

If we had to write an article about all the different health problems that people in general have nowadays, we would never end. General anxiety and fear is one of the most common ones. It’s a must to know why they happen so one can avoid them and live more comfortably.

Some of the causes:

When you analyze the causes of these disorders, you find that there are a lot of them and not just a couple, contrary to popular belief. Amongst the most common ones we find:

Inheritance. Some people are more keen to suffering from anxiety than others, and sometimes the  only possible explanation to that is their genes. This doesn’t mean that they can’t cure their disorder,    it just means that they will have to work a bit harder.

Bad nutrition. Eating healthy is slowly becoming an habit of the past, and that’s dangerous. Ignoring the fact that we all need to follow a healthy and varied diet may lead to a deficiency in vitamins and minerals, and that in turn might  make us weaker against stressful and delicate situations.

Some medications. It’s important to always know what effects a medication has or MIGHT have in our bodies. Mixing some medications with alcohol or caffeine (for example), might have produce very undesirable reactions.

Emotional intelligence. If you’re a person who’s always in control of your own emotions, and you are comfortable with them (as in, it doesn’t bother you to express your emotions in public, for example), then you will be less likely to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks.

Remember to take action if you are suffering from this affliction. Don’t ignore it, that will only harm you more in the long term.

Causes of panic and anxiety attacks

When trying to find out the main causes of panic and anxiety attacks, one has to learn how his/her body reacts to different situations. Persons who suffer of repeated episodes know well the overwhelming and dreaded feeling that comes along with it. It can easily control someone’s life if it’s ignored. The slight difference between panic and anxiety lies in the intensity of the attacks. The former is short and intense while the latter is characterised by long lasting and less overwhelming worrying sensations.

These mental disorders are directly related to stress from the immediate surroundings of the individual. A bad reaction to these stressful situations is in essence what generates them. It is not clear whether they are genetic or simply are a result of poor nutrition, though the family situation is a big contributor to this ailment. However, if one’s family is prone to such attacks, then he or she is bound to be afflicted in one way or another.
The Most Important Causes Of These Attacks are:

1. Negative reaction to some substances, drugs and medication: Use or over-use of some medicines, substances or recreational drugs has been known to result in anxiety attacks. Some known medicines that may contribute towards this disorder are antidepressants and in some cases antibiotics. Recreational drugs like alcohol and caffeine can also cause episodes of this affliction especially if they are abused. For someone who makes excessive use of recreational drugs, a sudden cut in their consumption often ends up in a similar, bad way.
2. Stress: For someone who has never dealt with a stressful situation in life, the sudden presence of an extreme one could easily lead to a panic or anxiety attack. Situations like starting with new jobs, moving to a new house or another country, the birth of your first child,  the loss of a loved one and similar situations can easily push someone over the edge. Stressful situations are hard to avoid in life and most people have to prevent them from happening before they do. It is recommended to always take care of stress as best as you can regardless of whether you are prone to suffering from this ailment or not, since stress is negative anyway.
3. Evasiveness: The first time someone experiences an attack, one seems to associate the attack with his/her surroundings. These could be scenarios of everyday’s life like traveling in a bus or using an elevator, being in a crowded train terminal and other situations alike. For example, if the first time one experiences it is in an elevator, one’s mind might associate the event with enclosed spaces, and that will make that person be more likely to suffer from further similar episodes in the future. Such events might end up making a person develop phobias like claustrophobia.

The remedy that has helped me get rid of panic and anxiety attacks forever

I’ll explain to you what I did to overcome my affliction.

About 1 year ago and after the incident in the party, I was very terrified because it was the first time that an attack had sent me to the hospital. I began researching desperately for something that could help me, and also that was not related to medications (like I said in the previous post, I’m personally against medications to treat this condition, but that’s just my opinion). It was the first time I had ever researched about my problem in a serious manner. I read a lot of articles, forum threads and blogs that talked about panic attacks, explained stories about people who suffer from them, and all that. I even registered on several forums and introduced myself, hoping to find something or someone who might help me out. I spent weeks repeating this same procedure over and over.

One day I found a post in one of these forums. It talked about a method called “Panic Away” (it will take you to the method’s site if you click the link, but let me first tell you what it is about so you can decide whether it is for you or not), by a man called Barry McDonagh. I had never heard of this name before, to tell you the truth. I had already found several similar “methods” to that one, and none of them looked serious to me, they all looked like ridiculous sales pages, and they seemed to be more interested in selling you stuff rather than helping you out…

I decided to give it a shot anyway and visited that website. At first, I was very skeptical about what I was reading. Things like “Natural method to help stop panic attacks fast” didn’t look too realistic. I’m a person who doesn’t believe too much in these kind of “DO/EARN X VERY FAST” , I’m always very wary about them, so as you can imagine, the first thing that came to my mind was that it was yet another one of those guys who just wanted to make profit out of other people’s problems. When I think about it now, I know that I couldn’t be more wrong.

After exploring the website I found that this method was different to the other blatant sales pages I had stumbled upon before because, for starters, it actually showed proof that it had worked for a lot of people. I’m a person who needs proof in order to believe in something, so that had me interested. I found a page full of phone and even video testimonials. Also, it looks like this man “Barry McDonagh”  had worked with prestigious psychologists in the past, and I found that to be really interesting. So I kept reading more.

The method basically revolves around the fact that you have to break your fear to having panic/anxiety attacks, to be completely free of them forever. This made a lot of sense to me since it was exactly the same I thought. Normally, when thought I was going to have another one, it’s true that it almost always ended happening. The whole technique is too extense to be explained here, but it basically consists on breaking your fear to them by using a powerful psychological procedure which requires nothing but your own willingness.

I wasn’t still completely sure, but I thought I had to start trying something already, and this method looked serious enough, so I decided to give it a shot. After all, they said they offered me a refund if I wasn’t happy with the results so I had nothing to lose.

After two weeks of following this technique every day I felt a bit better. I realized that I would finally be able to finally break free of this problem. Barry’s method is really a motivating and empowering one, that I can say. Also, I could talk to the man himself (Barry) via email, and he answered several questions I had in a surprsingly friendly way. I say surprisingly, because as I mentioned before, everything I had found so far were “methods” by people who cared more about making money than helping others out. After approximately one month, I had another episode of nervousness, but thankfully this time it was softer than the one I had in the party. I had been following all the guidelines perfectly every day, but it didn’t go perfectly. I thought the method may not be working, but I still decided to carry on with it, because 1 month wasn’t enough to judge it. I’m so happy I decided to do that, because after that last attack, I’ve not had any single one more in about 1 year.

Now don’t think this is a magical remedy that will fix the problem for you, because this isn’t true at all. There’s a major “downside” to this method and it is that you have to be very constant and disciplined, you have to follow the guidelines that you’re given every day and you have to be really confident and serious about your goal. If you aren’t serious about it, it won’t work for you. Remember that there are NO magical methods for nothing in life. There are SOLUTIONS to almost all the problems if you’re serious enough to carry them out, though. And all these solutions require work and discipline, but it’s worth it.

I highly recommend this method to you, it has really helped me improve my life a lot, and the best of all is that I never had to rely on medications!

If you want more information, click here to go to Panic Away’s website and you will find all the information you need. There is also a nice and friendly community of people who have or used to have this illness like us, success stories, and other interesting lectures.

If you decide to give it a try like I did, I’m sure you will also succeed. I’m not special, I’m just like you. Have faith in the method, be really serious, and it will give you amazing results. I sincerely hope you will be able to get rid of your problem forever and live your life how you deserve. You can do it too!

As a final note, I’d also like to warn you about all those products that claim to be able to “fix your life in 1 week” and other statements alike. They are just stupid money-makers, there is absolutely no method that can help you fix this affliction in 1 week, so be wary about them.

If you have any questions regarding my experience with this disorder or if you need help, feel free to leave a comment here and I’ll answer as soon as possible.

Good luck.

What made me decide to change my life: My personal experience

Click here if you want to skip my personal experience with panic and anxiety and jump directly to the solution.

This time I’d like to talk to you about my personal experience as promised. Let me begin by saying that I’ve suffered from panic and anxiety attacks since I was a teenager. I think it all started in my school when I was about 15 years old. I used to be a shy person and the sole idea of talking to lots of people scared me a lot. I don’t really remember exactly when I had my first attack, but I do remember that it was not a pleasant experience at all.

Since then, I’ve been having these every now and then… usually one or two every month. In my case, they triggered in situations of extreme stress (I had some when I was working), but the majority of them happened for no apparent reason. Sometimes they weren’t extreme but some other times I even felt I was going to have a heart attack. The day when I decided to change it all was about 1 year ago. I was in a party with my wife and a few work colleagues, it was the birthday of one of them who also happens to be a great friend of mine, and we were celebrating it in his house. The place was crowded and music was all loud. After having two drinks, and seemingly for no apparent reason, I started to feel bad. I wasn’t sure about what it was until I began seeing blurry and hyperventilating. “Not now” is what first came to my mind. What happened after that was that I quickly lost all my strength and felt like I was getting out of air.

My wife quickly came to me when she saw me on the corner and called an ambulance, which took me to the hospital. I had to stay one day under watch and I couldn’t go to work. I was absolutely terrified after that. I had suffered from a lot of those attacks previously but none of them ever ended up with me in the hospital. There was only one thing that I was completely sure about then, and it was that I was tired of those damn attacks, and I definitely didn’t want to go through that kind of situation again. Never again. I didn’t want to cancel plans and be a slave of this condition, be afraid of not knowing when I could suffer from another panic attack again. That was what made me begin researching obsessively through all the internet about possible remedies so that I could fix this problem myself and, preferrably, forever. I had visited several doctors before but all of them recommended me the same, and I didn’t want to  accept it, eventhough they told me that I should, because I could have “severe problems” if I didn’t. They recommended me using medications. But I knew that medications don’t fix the problem at all, they’re just a little patch, and the problem doesn’t disappear completely. I wanted to GET RID of them forever, I just wouldn’t accept a simple short-term remedy

That’s how, after weeks of looking through the internet, I finally found something that worked for me. At first I was a bit skeptical about it I won’t lie, but it proved to work, and it did a fantastic job at fixing my problem.

I’ll talk to you about it in the next post, since I don’t want to make this post too long to read.

What are the remedies for panic/anxiety attacks?

The most extended approach to treat them normally is the use of medications. I personally never liked the idea of medications because they don’t get rid of your problem, they only help you control it, and not fully. They’re just a short-term solution to serious problems for which the ideal solutions should be long-term and decisive ones.

In terms of medications, specific members of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), the selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SSNRI), and the benzodiazepine families of medications are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for effective treatment of panic disorder. Examples of such medications include sertraline (Zoloft), paroxetine (Paxil), and citalopram (Celexa) from the SSRI group, duloxetine (Cymbalta) and venlafaxine (Effexor) from the SSNRI group, and clonazepam (Klonopin) and lorazepam (Ativan) from the benzodiazepine group. Although alprazolam (Xanax) is often used to treat panic attacks, its short duration of action can sometimes result in having to take it several times per day, which only makes it more of a nuisance than anything else. Medications from the beta-blocker family are sometimes used to treat the physical symptoms associated with the disorder. Some individuals who suffer from severe episodes may benefit from treatment with gabapentin (Neurontin), which was initially found to treat seizures.

The real question is:

Is there a natural remedy that can help us get rid of this problem forever?

The answer is yes, and I talk from my experience. In fact, I’m very glad I decided to choose that path instead of going for medications for my whole life. Remember that this disorder can have some biological causes, but they are mostly psychological, which means that the same we started suffering from them, we can stop suffering from them too. In the next post I’ll share with you my personal experience and what led me to finally overcome this horrible pathology.

Why do they happen?

I’d like to first introduce a bit of theory about why people suffer from this disorder. Why do they happen?

It is known that one of the most common causes for these attacks is our genetics. Inheritance plays an important role when it comes to determine whether someone will be affected or not, although this doesn’t necessarily mean that one is safe from developing this pathology event if there has never been anyone in his or her family who suffered from it.

There are more biological causes apart from genetics, like the presence of another pathology like an obsessive compulsive disorder, hyperthyroidism, the hyperventilation syndrome or Wilson’s disease; and psychological disorders like phobias and heavily accumulated stress.

Certain dangerous or extremely stressful situations can also potentially trigger an attack. Therefore, it is recommended that people who are more in risk of suffering from these take extra protection measures like trying to live a more relaxed life. It may seem redundant but it can make the difference.

Whether you are in any of the groups above mentioned or not, in the next posts I will share with you my personal experience regarding anxiety and how I did overcome it. More information coming soon!
